The bathing oil smelled wonderful.  It almost distracted Rook from the tangible dread roiling in her stomach at Astrid's words.

The way Astrid matter-of-factually discussed her death... She had died there, or as close to it as one could get and still breathe afterward.  The Sister in the temple had died because of her.  She had slipped out of clothes matted and lathered with her own blood...

Comarra was home.  Rook had just lost everything he ever had, but still... he could rebuild.  He still knew enough to get by.  More, now that he had lived through the whole ordeal with the Howlers.  They certainly think he's dead, and with the tattoo gone, he could just lay low.  Steal and sell just enough to get into the university.  The plan could still work... if he wasn't a woman.  Or stuck in some mad lordling's personal world.  How in the bloody hells did that work, anyhow?

She lowered herself into the water.  Drowning in a bathtub, all things considered, didn't seem like the worst way this day could end.  At least it would smell nice.  Did Diego want her to be... pliant?  This was sounding less like a servant position and more like a sex slave.  The scandalous maid was trying to get magic, and the djinn was saying very ominous things.

Rook tried to make herself small under the tub's surface.  Could she win the contest?  Go back to Comarra?  To the streets where she bled out?  Sam was trying to learn how to please the man who would be her master... just the thought made Rook's stomach churl.  Was she even eligible for this contest?  What would she have to do?  What would happen if she lost?

But she kept her mouth shut beneath the water.  The djinn was already regretting saving Rook's life, and the image of the Sister who wasn't so fortunate wouldn't leave her mind.  She didn't want Astrid to have more cause to regret her decision...

@Nikki

She claps her hands rapidly, "I knew you would come round!" Between one blink and the next she holds a pallet and sits before an easel, between that blink and one after you find yourself on a blank field of pure white. "Now then.. what shall we change about you?" Art's voice seems to come from all around you. A brush tip comes in from the heavens and gently flips along the sides of your head adding cow horns like Kelly's.

"Nah.. been done.." Another dip and they are currled back like a goats.. "Hmmm... Work with with me here..."

@Renee

You can pick up the doll furniture like cheap plastic patio furniture.. Your throw is woefully short however. You can can her with a little brass key twisting it in the back of .. something.. "We just find you a nice dolly husband!"

You are on the second floor, but... the windows of the doll house are all open..

@Dicho/ordos

Astrid gives a faint laugh at the confused look on your face, "Wash her back.. she's a woman, not a member of Cirqe De Solie." She starts to find clothes in rooks size, not hard.. they are all in rooks size, Black satin under things, blue dress, low heeled boots, She sets them aside, "Diego fancies himself a gentleman, but virtue of wealth, and birth, and skill with a blade. He has pretensions, Thus he craves arts, dancers, singers, fine fancy food. He isn't a gentleman, for all his airs he is common as clay. He eats the fancy foods, and drinks the fine wines, he watches the dancers listens to the singers, but always craves for more. Personally, I think he desires to desire the things he says he desires."

She shrugs, "And if that sounded confusing to you, try being his servant for so long you've stopped keeping track of the years and living with it."

"Oh." I answer when she explains the intended purpose of the scrub.

After another beat I add "oh!" And actually lean forward to scrub the newcomers back... awkwardly, bending forward at the waist and reaching, shivering at the feel of the warm air on my upper thighs as my petticoats are lifted away from them, leaving them bare.

The heels aren't helpful either, and I nearly overbalance and fall into the pool in full (well complete- there isn't much 'full' about this outfit...) uniform, but manage to catch myself and instead just squat down to reach and scrub, though I'm fairly sure I'm not doing much good.

Why am I even doing this? Why have I been put into this uniform and tasked with tending to the new girl? Moreover why am I actually doing it? Okay that last because insulting the person I want a favor from seems unwise but the rest stands.

The information about Diego seems... really quite good actually. Not exactly hopeful, but helpful. "No, actually, that all made perfect sense- at least to my ear. What good is having anything and everything you could ever want if you don't know what it is you truly want? Hard to feel sorry for him though." This last added under my breath. It does at least start me onto a strategy...

"Do you... um... do you happen to know what he thought of my torte-ise?" If he remembers me from some specific thing, that can only help.

I rub at my necklace again, and frown "and you still haven't answered about the necklace- when I get out of here at least will you take it off?"

Rook stayed quiet, mostly submerged in the bath.  The more she heard about this place, about Diego, the worse things sounded.

She followed the conversation between the maid and the djinn.  From the sound of things, Diego held the real power here, and he was... neuvo rich, she believed was the term she had heard before.  What the old-blood nobles called the class of wealthy businessmen who had bought their way into high society.  All the wealth and power they could want, but without that sophistication...  They made for very good marks; they could be counted on to spend lavishly and openly, displaying their wealth and sophistication to prove themselves, and often missing the finer points of taste and class that they were supposed to be emulating.

That, at least, was something she could understand.  Maybe even something she could use.  Diego had the real power here.  Diego controlled the djinn.  Diego didn't want her... Astrid had been sent after the Sister, and had only picked her up on a whim.  Maybe... if she could appeal to Diego's vanity, he'd send her back?  After all, what kind of man would want a maid that used to be a man?  And a low-born thief, at that?

Rook exhaled.  She had a plan.  That was the first positive step she'd taken since she got to this strange place.  She breathed in deeply as she forced calmness on herself... she was being bathed, and an array of clothes worth more than anything she'd ever laid her hands on was being put beside the tub... she was being cleaned up, probably to be presented to something.  Probably Diego, since everything here seemed to resolve around him.

Tentatively, just as Sam began brushing her back, she reached out and picked up another wash-scrub and began brushing it over her body.  First her legs, then arms, never lifting the limbs over the water level, taking special care not to think on the strange feelings from her new assets, the warm emptiness between her legs, or how her breasts felt when she quickly brushed over them, avoiding the nipples.

"What... what must I do?" Rook asked softly, not entirely trusting her voice to not break if she spoke at normal volume.  "What happens now?"

The sudden teleportation isn't unexpected, but certainly isn't pleasant, and I find myself stumbling slightly at the disorienting change in position. I knew she would be powerful given what she did to Kelly, but this was certainly concerning... what have I gotten myself into?

The feeling of having horns painted on, then changed is... odd. It tingles slightly, but more than that it feels oddly correct. Like the way you were previously was somehow wrong. As I stand here, touching my horns I can't help but notice how strange my memories without them feel. I look up in the direction the brush came from, feeling the weight of my horns as I do "Do you mind making sure my body is still properly functional? I need to go back to the farm at some point and help out."

I run down the stairs of the house. Well, I start as a run, but they aren't actually designed for use and the scale is off, so it's a bit more work than expected.

But on the ground floor I decide to make a run for it.

@Dicho/ordos

Astrid finishes setting out clothing, "First we get you presentable, then we let you talk to Deigo." She shrugs, "What happens after that I can't exactly say."

She looks at Sam, "If you win, and you desire it, I'll remove it." She pauses a moment, "Behind you Sam, towels for our guest, be a dear and help her dry off."

@Renee

Sprinting down the stairs you make it to the table top. Only one small table between you and your stuff. The clicks of he winding are starting to slow down...

@Nikki

A swipe of white paint later you are without the horns. "Hmm.. where you hoping to grow your assesses?" The brush descends fro the heavens again and teases against your chest adding cup sizes, "Or were you hoping to really play into this soft cuddle-some thing you've got going?"

Tiny dabs all along your arms and legs like little stitches on a stuffed animal toy...your body starting to get fuzzy to the touch..

She's starting to slow down. So she's going to look for me soon. I know if  look back I'm going to waste time. So I sprint for across the table for m stuff. I pump my small legs as hard as I can. Can I make it before she starts looking for me again.

I can't help but arch an eyebrow. I know it's hardly wise, but my patience is not infinite and it's dearly taxed already.

I'm afraid I might have rolled my eyes at this point "So then you can take it off, as I would like you to do." my hands go on my hips "But for some reason you'd just rather not- and yes, I believe we can safely assume that when I get to go home I will not want a necklace that makes me do anything anyone who touches it says. Seems like that could lead to trouble." I am feeling much less generous about this genie than I was a few minutes ago.

I grab a towel and hand it out towards the new girl. "/Our/ guest? Well, that was quick." I look at Rook "Enjoy the 'guest' thing while it lasts, by the time you've been here for a day..." I blink, that's a heady thought, to realize that yes, judging by the number of times I've slept, I've only been here for a day... "they'll have you traipsing around as a maid and scrubbing the backs of new people as honored guests."

"Uhm... thank you?" Rook said as she climbed out of the tub.  I she was being honest, it would have been the most relaxing and pleasant experience she'd had in the last few years under different circumstances.  Even as it was, it seemed to have helped with the shaking.

Rook began to dry herself, wincing when her hands brought her tactile proof of her new endowments.  She decided not to say anything more before these two; she still wasn't entirely clear about what was going on, but their conversation seemed important.  Sam was audibly upset... she clearly did not like being here, but was still trying to find a way to please Diego to satisfy that contest... something about this didn't make sense.

Rook ignored that and tried to plan what she would say.  She didn't belong here.  She used to be a man.  The djinn had come to get someone else, so even by this world's strange laws she was only here by mistake.  If she asked, maybe begged, would Diego throw her back?  Or at the very least undo the magic that had replaced her manhood?

She bit her lip as she thought it over.  It wasn't the best plan... too many unknowns, for one thing.  But, at the very least, Rook couldn't see how it would make her situation any worse.  She was running through approaches, trying to compare them to what she knew of this lordling's character.

By this point she was mostly dry and she finally took a good look at the clothes Astrid had selected.  They were of very fine make and high quality, likely quite valuable if you knew the right buyer.  But only now did Rook realize she'd have to wear them.

"I have to wear that?" she said, more overwhelmed than offended.
